Most people know the Purple coneflower or Echinacea purpurea because of its medical use and its health benefits. It is used for stimulating the immune system. For budgies and other pet birds, the Purple coneflower is a tasty forage plant that can easily be grown in gardens or even in flower pots on the window sill.

Birds love to nibbel on the flowers, the leaves and also on the stems of the plant if they are used to it. Since the Purple coneflower dries up quickly, you should serve it immediately after plucking and remove the rests of the plant after about three hours.
