|In most parts of Central Europe one can find Barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli) on fields, at the edges of meadows and near roadsides. It grows to 60 or 100 cm, under perfect conditions it can even grow to 200 cm. Half-ripe seeds can be found from May to August or September, ripe seeds from July to October. Budgies and many other pet birds prefer half-ripe seeds. Barnyard grass perfectly fits for deep-freezing. It's a healthy additional food for the winter season because you can defrost it in small portions and offer your birds some tasty fresh food even in the cold time of the year.|
